The beginning and the end.

Well, Script Frenzy is done. I won with 101 pages, and slightly more sanity than I finished NaNoWriMo with.
So now it's on to the next writing projects, and hopefully, more blog posts.

A warning and a little bit more.

I just realized I kinda wasted my March. I spent the month preparing a Script Frenzy idea only to place it on a shelf a couple hours ago so I could chase after another one. I couldn't help it, the new idea is beckoning me with technology, medicine, politics, rebellion. . . I will pursue the old idea some other time.
30 hours till the frenzy begins. . .

Be prepared for infrequent posting, odd subjects, and a lot of gibberish. Feel free to abandon this blog until April is over if you feel it would protect your sanity.

Writing in boxes

I recently compared Script Frenzy ideas with a friend and he informed me that I have written myself into a box - that every story starts the same, is in the same world, is always fantasy, etc. Now, while I do not consider my script to be fantasy, he kinda does have a point. Every novel that I have in the works is a fantasy novel, every one has a female main character, etc. . .
He told me, well, he told me many things, but he told me to basically take a break and write something else. So that's what I'm doing. He gave me the idea, and a deadline, so in less than two weeks I will (hopefully) have written my first *real* modern story since I began writing almost three years ago. Fun, fun, fun!
I'm a bit nervous, fantasy is a genre I'm comfortable with, but I'll never know what I can do until I try. It may be a really good story, or it could stink.
I spent the last few days in Ohio, visiting family. It's a nine hour trip one way, and I had planned on writing. Yeah, didn't really happen. I spent more time looking out the window at the scenery I've seen over a dozen times. Oh well.

Script Frenzy starts in four days.
And I think that's all I really have to say for now.

Script Frenzy

Script Frenzy begins in less than a month, and I have, for some reason, signed up. Don't ask me how I plan on pulling this off, it's like NaNoWriMo, I have no idea how I will survive. Thankfully, Alice in Wonderland rehearsals, if previous plays are any example, will be very inspiring and full of dialogue.
Script Frenzy is writing a 100 page script in the month of April. Sounds easy enough, as a 50,000 word novel comes to about 175 pages.
I have my idea - a beginning, a middle, and no end. The characters are forming in my mind, and I'm scrambling to make sure that I am ready when April 1st comes around.

What if . . .

The person who said that the sleepless nights working on a NaNoWriMo novel ended with November was dead wrong. I just thought I'd point that out.

I hate writing out plots, and my attempts never seems to work. It always seems to take the surprise out of writing. However I do enjoy plotting 'what-ifs'.

What is plotting 'what-ifs'?

It's very simple. You take a nice, clean sheet of paper, and draw a circle/square/whatever shape floats your boat. Then you write in that shape a major (or minor) event that happens. Mine might read: Z. sends Rogue and small band on mission. I then begin to draw lines away from it, attaching shapes to the end of the lines, and write in them what might happen, what would happen if character A did this and if he did that. And the lines continue to go off until my page starts looking like a multicolored maze. (I'm doing a wonderful job overusing my latest toy - a four colored pen that actually works)

And that's what 'what-ifs' are.

Snow

It's snowing. I love the snow. It makes the world look softer, as if I could deal with it. I went out in it, barefoot and coatless to dance, something that would have my sister rolling her eyes.
I shall now have to write a scene that has snow, and a lot of it.
